S&H Vina’s step towards standardisation & increased productivity with GSD

A successful first phase of GSD Practitioners Training took place during April 1 – 26 at the premises of S&H Vina in Thanh Hoa Province, Hanoi, Vietnam.

The training was lead by GSD training and productivity consultant Riza Anderson. Riza has 22 years of industry experience (18 years of experience) holding the GSD license.

Pre-implementation: Core Style analysis

The significant deviation between actual time (non-GSD time) and GSD SMV per operation was found.

Week 1: GSD Practitioner Theory Course

The participants were introduced and taught about the nature and use of pre-determined time standards and the GSD motion codes and sequences.

At the end of the first week of training, the participants were tested and measured to assess their level of understanding of GSD codes, motion sequences, and application for operation analysis.

Week 2: GSD Software training & Database Configuration

During week two, participants were introduced to the GSD Enterprise software for use in quantifying the SMV determined by their method analysis.

Method study is the procedure used to improve efficiency and productivity by analyzing the value-adding and non-value adding elements of an operation.

This was explained in the classroom sessions prior to moving the participants to the factory floor.

Week 3 & 4: Application & Method Improvement

Week 3 and 4 focus on guided application, using the experience of GSD to mentor the participants in determining potential method improvements and elimination of non-value adding activities.

The participants on the factory floor could put into practice the previous week’s learning. This work was used in conjunction with the GSD enterprise software to gradually create features and full-style analyses.

Taking this approach forward, 19 operations were visually analysed to find the method improvement scope that could bring about a 10% increase in productivity and a calculated potential profit of $14,000 per month.

The S&H Vina team will now implement the improvements in various styles to achieve the goal of 10% productivity improvement as per the GSD standard benchmark.

Congratulations to the Team!

We congratulation to Bumsuk So, Tao Thi Minh, Lee Yong Hee, Cao Thi Nga, Anthony Bacarias, Le Thi Kim Anh, Le Thi Huong, Truong Thi Quyen, Nguyen Thi Lan Anh and Pham Thi Thu Thuy for successfully completing the GSD Training Phase 1.
