We are delighted to announce all twelve participants who attended the GSD Training Course in October all passed the GSD Theory and Practical Examinations with excellent results and have since commenced the Software Training. The team are now ready to apply their newly acquired skills, using GSD method analysis tools and methodology, to identify ways of reducing waste in their operation.
Sharmin Group, who are based in modern facilities on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh, specialize in the manufacturing of woven casual pants, shorts, skirts, jackets, overalls for menswear, ladieswear and children’s wear.
The company have over 80 production lines with an estimated monthly production capacity in excess of 2.3 million pieces with a workforce of more than 11,000. Their customers include Matalan, Hema, Zara, Kiabi, Kmart, Lidl and H&M.
GSD Theoretical Training
In the theoretical part of the course guides the student from the Sharmin Group were taken through the various levels and applications of the GSD Predetermined Time Standard (PTS) system.
Noemi Echague, one of our experienced Training and Productivity Consultant, who lead the training, also provided the team with detailed analysis of the GSD system and worked with them on structured practical visualisation exercises to assist their understanding of the GSD motion codes.
GSD Practical Application
During the Practical Application element of the course the team at Shermin were taken onto their own factory floor where, under our guidance of Noemi, had the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills within their own working environment.
As part of the Practical Application GSD Training the students videoed some of company’s core styles on the production lines ready for further analysis. When these videos were reviewed, the students used the GSD method analysis tools and methodology and were able to start identifying ways of reducing waste in their operation.
